What is web development

Web development is a general term for the tasks that go into making websites that can be put on an intranet or the internet. When you start working on a website, you’ll need to do things like design it, write content for it, set up network security, and so on.

Web development is a broad term that includes all of the actions, updates, and operations that are needed to build, maintain, and manage a website so that its performance, user experience, and speed are as good as possible.

It might also, but not always, include all of the strategic steps you need to take to make sure your website is at the top of search engine results. Most of the time, those tasks fall under a different field, like search engine optimization (SEO)

Web development is also called website development. Web developers, or web devs, are the people who keep a website up and running.

Web development explained

Web development is the coding or programming that makes a website work the way the owner wants it to. It mostly talks about the non-design part of making websites, like coding and writing markup.

There are many different types of web development, from simple text pages to complex web-based applications, social network apps, and e-business applications.

The web development hierarchy looks like this:

Client-side coding.
Server-side coding.
Database technology

Websites are built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

HTML is the basic structure of a website. It is the foundation for everything else that is built on top of it, and it is called HTML. It makes the blocks that make up a page’s layout, format, and important parts. Even though it’s possible to write a website entirely in HTML, it won’t be very useful unless it’s added to with CSS and JavaScript. There is a lot of coding involved even when you make simple changes to style, like changing the color of a button. This is because HTML is the only way to do this.

Web content can be styled with CSS, which is done with a small set of files that are kept across the whole site. This way, if a web developer wants to change the color of all the buttons on every page of the website, they only have to change one file in CSS.

The JavaScript programming language is used to take care of the interactivity of a lot of different parts of the site. It can be used to make icons and drop-down menus look different, add animations, games, and other interactive elements.

Web developers are usually split into front-end, back-end, and full-stack developers. A front-end developer is in charge of everything that looks good on the website (layout, navigation bar, etc.), how it works, and how all its parts work together.

There are people who work on the back end of a website who do things that aren’t visible to the public, like make sure the website’s hosting services, database, and applications work well. Python, Ruby, Java, and PHP are some of the server-side languages that back-end developers might need to use to come up with a solution to server problems.

If you’re a full-stack dev, you can do both front end and back end work at the same time.
